The American Performer Telecaster joins the ranks of this well spec’d and well-priced range. Sharing many of the features found throughout the range, this model proves to be one of the best all-rounders currently available.
First off, the pickups are new Yosemite units, hand-wound and made specially for this range. These pickups are relatively high in output and have a nice bold sound that really suits the attitude of a Telecaster.
Fender have also included their excellent Greasebucket Tone circuit. The Greasebucket is basically a tone control that does its job properly: turning back the knob removes treble frequencies without ruining every other part of your sound like some standard tone circuits do! You’ll find yourself using the Tone knob a lot more than before when you have the Greasebucket in there!
In other areas, you can enjoy a Modern C-shaped Maple neck with 22 jumbo frets on a 9.5” radius fingerboard: exactly the kind of spec we were hoping for. This is not too modern compared with some necks: most guitarists should get on very well here!
Other details include retro looking tuners with an efficient 18:1 gear ratio and a vintage style ashtray bridge with 3 brass saddles for improved tone and sustain.
