Description
Made from brass and tuned in Bb, the Generation Flageolet 6578 tin whistle is the longest and lowest tuned member of the range and bears a distinctly warm and traditional tone. Also known as penny whistles, since they were so affordable and cheap to produce, this humble whistle is played by professionals as well as student musicians.
The Generation Flageolet Bb Brass Tin Whistle
While the penny whistle plays a big role in traditional Scottish, Irish, and Celtic folk, it’s also found a place in a vast array of different genres. These simple flutes were originally finished with six finger holes so that the major scale could be played with ease, and in this case, both the Bb and Eb scales can be played. In practice, the Flageolet 6578 tin whistle can play every note and in every key, but for beginners it may be easier to simply swap whistles with different tunings. Also, while this whistle delivers the warm sound of a brass body, there are also versions that have the bright and clear sound of a nickel body.
