Following on from the original Evans single-ply EMAD head (the world’s fastest-selling bass-drum batter head), the EMAD 2 bass-drum head is a two-ply version offering several different muffling choices that can be easily applied to the surface of the head.
The EMAD 2’s batter-head’s perimeter holds a black plastic sleeve that contains either of two black-foam rings against the head. These rings come in two different thicknesses that offer different degrees of bass-drum muffling and alter the playing feel of the drum head. The head can also essentially be used without either of the rings for a more spacious sound. The main advantage of the rings however, is that you don’t have to remove the head to change your bass-drum sound, which is great news!
