Remo 12″ Clear Controlled Sound CS ‘Black-Dot’ Drum Head

Constructed with 1-ply of 10-mil film, Remo Controlled sound (‘CS’ for short!) are distinctly recognisable by their cute black dot in the centre of the head. Adding an extra 5-mil of thickness at the point of contact, the black dot focuses the sound whilst adding some extra durability to the head.

Being single-ply, Controlled Sound heads have a naturally open sound with many mid-range frequencies, much like an Ambassador, but with a bit more control. If you’re a bit wary of using an Ambassador as your batter head then the extra durability from the black dot will give you a bit more breathing space to play harder without instantly damaging the head.

With Remo Controlled Sound heads, you get the best of both worlds in terms of sound and a slight increase in durability from a single-ply head. However, if you’re the kind of player who still dents double-ply heads, we would not advise these as your first choice as single-ply means single-ply!
